My Mom sewed a colorful 
"tag" blanket for Karis and I decided to hang it on her activity mat....she was soooo excited!
My Daddy was so excited to find this purple, full-sized soccer ball for me! I don't really know what to do with it yet, but it sure is pretty. And I am completely fascinated when he shows me his soccer tricks :) Daddy is so much fun!
Today Karis had her 4 month checkup and shots. Karis was an absolute sweetheart, laughing and cooing the whole time the doc checked her over until the doc had to flush out her eye. (She had somehow managed to get about 4 eyelashes stuck together that kept floating from one side of her eye to the other.) This process was actually worse than the shots because it took longer and it was harder to hold her head still than her legs. But the doc eventually got it out and then Karis started smiling again...I was amazed because I thought it would be the end of her good mood. But a hug from Mama made her forget the ordeal. She is such a sweet baby! Then she was ready for the shots... It was miserable, of course, because I had to hold her hands and she couldn't understand why. But it was over quickly and then I fed her and she fell asleep.Karis weighs 13.9 pounds, which surprised me because I had weighed her at 15...I'm wondering about my scale now. So she is in the 50th percentile for weight and head size. She is still between 80 and 90 percent with her height, 25 inches. The nurse who was giving her the shots said that she was really strong...I guess she was fighting her pretty hard :) But the doc said she looked extremely happy and healthy and shouldn't have to see us til 6 months! So I'm glad thats done with!
Well, as you can tell, I have totally recovered from my traumatic day. My bandaids are all I have left to show for it and I think they are pretty cool! I only woke up fussy from the first nap after the doctor's visit and since then I have been my normal happy smiley self :) Its just too fun being a baby to let it get me down!
Its hard to believe another month has passed already. Karis is now 4 months old and definitely not a newborn anymore! Her big change this month was standing up. Not without help, of course, but she constantly wants to be pushing off on those feet. No more just laying down and kicking; she's got to be vertical!!! She has also gotten so much more vocal, especially right before bedtime and at the changing table. She will squeal and "talk" like she has something sooo important to tell you. It still amazes her Daddy at how "girly" all her noises sound :) And she laughs a lot more, too. Its just so much fun. She still doesn't like to roll over much, and only does it randomly by mistake:) She'd just rather be standing! Another thing that has increased dramically is her drool and desire to chew....Im guessing the teething stage is not too far off for us! She loves her chew toys and can bring them to her mouth pretty well. But she sure does get frustrated if she gets the wrong end or just can't find the right position in her mouth! Its also really funny to see her trying to put her paci in her mouth. She can do it but its usually upside down or sideways :) Karis is so aware of everything now and its super hard to get her to nurse or fall asleep in public -- she just doesn't want to miss a thing! She is such a joy and blessing from the Lord and we just love her soooo much!

This is a pic of Karis helping Mama make ham biscuits the other day. She sat in her Bjorn and watched very intently as Mama taught her how to do it. By the time she can actually pick up the pan to put them in the oven, she is going to be a pro! Doesn't she look like a distinguished little chef? he, he
We have a long counter with 2 sinks in the bedroom right by my closet. I've gotten into the habit of putting Karis in her Bumbo in front of that huge mirror to play while I am putting away clothes. And she loves it!! She thinks its the funniest thing ever. Of course, her favorite thing to do is to dance and sing with Mama in front of the mirror, but we'll not share those pics...thats just between mama and Baby :) He,he
In case you were wondering, Karis is not screaming in agony in this pic, but she is squealing at the top of her lungs because it is just so fun!
I have to admit that I really enjoy Sundays. First of all, I have an awesome church and I look forward to going immensely. But I also look forward to an excuse to dress Karis up and put bows in her hair :)
